They created a system where people got more of the product (Cloud Storage) if they shared it. This works when you know you have a razor sharp product-market-fit and don’t offer many “features”.
Too many companies offer ‘features’ to widen the funnel of potential users, rather than focusing on a stronger product-market-fit.
Email’s nothing new for Dropbox neither is having a product that people want. Dropbox built a system that incentivizes word-of-mouth and that’s definitely special.
